How do I book you?
Booking us for your special event or party is simple and hassle free! Simply fill our
contact form with all the details about your event.
If you are inquiring about a kid’s birthday party, you can receive instant no obligations details here: Request info. Once you have decided on a package, fill in the booking request form on the request page (or return to it from your email). Include your date and package choice. Once we receive your request, we will check out schedule and email you a confirmation letter or nonavailability generally within 24 hours (often sooner). If your requested date is NOT available, we’ll email or call you ASAP and we can try to find a date and time that would for all of us. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!
How much space do you need?
I always say the more space the better. Stage shows will be discussed. Private shows are different, and I require a minimum area that is roughly 6′ x 8′ or larger. Typically, a living room or family room, is a perfect place. Other than that, an area just infront of my performing area for the children to sit and enjoy the show is all that is needed. You can put out chairs for the kids or they can sit on the floor.
What equipment do you need? Do you need a table?
The only thing I typically need is an accessible electrical outlet (if your show package involves music) That’s it! I bring my own table, props and sound equipment.
Can you perform the show outdoors?
As a general rule I do limit my outdoor performances. There are many factors that have helped make this decision, inclement weather, bugs, hot sun, sudden winds, rain, un-even ground. The list is long. (“Murphy’s law” Anything that can go wrong will!) The most obvious factor is the weather.
The animals! The comfort of the “stars” of my show is important! Additionally, my birds are more apt to fly, as I don’t clip their wings. I have many thousands of dollars invested in illusions, props and sound equipment. Many of these things are not designed for rain, wind, sun etc. With that said, outdoor shows are tricky, but not impossible. There are far less distractions indoors and I feel it helps present the best show possible.
How much do you cost???
I offer several different entertainment packages from stage performance with illusions to smaller standup comedy magic shows. As well as children’s birthday parties.
For complete details, for children’s shows including pricing, simply fill out this
quick and easy form. To make it even easier for you, I accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, and American Express (
Via PayPal). For all other events please contact us
HERE.
Can we serve the kids food, snacks, and beverages during your show?
Well, it’s your home so you can do whatever you’d like… however, I recommend serving treats & drinks after the show. It’s a HUGE distraction for the kids. Not only eating the snack but then the serving of it and cleaning up that takes place. At this age, they need the least number of distractions as possible. So, I HIGHLY recommend NOT serving goodies during the performance (also because it’s a show based on audience interaction and participation… I need their hands to be free…besides, it could turn messy).
Do you require a deposit?
I require a 25% deposit to secure your date and time. You will receive more information when you receive your performance agreement confirming your requested date. I accept cash, checks, Venmo and
PayPal
Is the show clean and age appropriate?
Yes! Some entertainers only cater to certain age ranges, Ex. 3-7 year olds. I take pride that my shows are specifically geared towards the age range of the children I’m performing for. I specialize in entertaining children with clean and fun magic that even the adults will enjoy.
When’s a good time to have you begin your show?
A good general rule of thumb is to have my show begin about 15-30 minutes after the party is to begin. This prevents distractions from late arriving guests. Depending on which package you go with, the show lasts anywhere from 40 to 60+ minutes.
I’m celebrating more than one child’s birthday; can you still entertain at our party?
Yes! I then have all of the b-day children be the stars of the show. Everything else is the same except we have a few more lucky participants!
Do you know of any sources for birthday party goodies like plates, napkins, hats, etc.?
Yes! There is a great place called
4FunParties.com that gets nothing but rave revues from other moms. Check it out now!
Important: Can we hire you to entertain our children in one room while all of the adults hang out in another room?
Due to liability issues, I do require that all of the children be supervised at all times by at least two responsible adults (besides me). I simply can’t be held responsible for supervising them. This is to protect you, the children and myself.
Can we invite young infants and babies to the party?
Since it’s your party, you may do whatever you’d like. However, I do recommend NOT having children under the age of 3 present, only because they often are a distraction to the children and adults who are trying to enjoy the magic show. Same thing goes with your pets. Please keep your pets in a separate area.
Spoiler title
I can’t control what happens after I leave the party but please don’t give the goodie bags to children under the age of the 3. There are small parts in there and I’d rather be safe than sorry. Also, please read above question.
May we videotape and/or take pictures?
Regarding taping the show; I’d prefer not to have the whole show taped. A few quick highlights of the birthday child helping out is generally OK. (Audience reactions shots are always welcome too.) Shorter clips/highlights are always more enjoyable to watch on future viewing of the tapes as well. Taking pictures is OK, as long as its not a distraction. I do encourage you to take a group shot and some individual pictures of the children after the show. A good time for this is when the kids are petting Ms. Bunny. They could be used as thank you pictures and future High School yearbook fun. 🙂 Of course I’d love to receive any copies digital or print. feel free to post any special captures to
www.facebook.com/jasonpurdymagic or tag me in
twitter,
instagram etc.
Do I have to tip the performer?
Tips are not expected but are accepted and appreciated. If you are happy with the service provided, and really want to show your appreciation for a particularly fantastic show.
Do you only perform children’s parties?
No, I’m a professional, full-time entertainer. I entertain a wide array of audiences at various corporate events, resort hotels, businesses, fairs, schools, hospitals, churches etc. Not planning a kids birthday party?
